My sister in law is a genius.
Where’s the cute? BabyCenter, that’s where. October 4, 2010
I know what you’re thinking. No posts in how many months? She’s abandoned ship!
Nope! Not even close. In fact, the Pursuit of Cute is in the process of getting a fancy new face and if all goes well, a couple of partners in crime. (cross your fingers!)
In the meantime, I’m sharing my picks, reviewing products and playing Santa Claus on my employer’s newly re-launched blog, BabyCenter’s Momformation.com.
In addition to sharing the ups and downs of parenting and some good celeb mom gossip, “Momfo” just added some amazing new bloggers to talk about all of the other stuff we love as moms…kid-friendly food, activities, crafts, home design, organization, fashion and everything in between. Bloggers like John and Sherry from design blog Young House Love, Catherine McCord from food blog Weelicious, Alicia and Sarah from organization blog Get Buttoned Up and of course, and fun picks from Elina Furman at Mamaista and Liz and Kristen from Cool Mom Picks.
There’s a lot to see. You’ll love it. I promise.
See you there!
JJ Cole Bibs – too cute to mess up May 15, 2010
Came across these adorable bibs on JJcole a couple of weeks ago and fell in love with the rich colors and mod designs. No cutesy light pinks or baby blues. Just artsy and whimsical designs that pop.
I ordered the larger bibs in cocoa tree and blue vine and the soft bibs in green birds and green circles. Happy to say they were every bit as good in person as they are here in the photos. The fabric is think and seems durable, especially for the price – which is only like $5-$6 each.
You can also buy matching burp cloths and muslin blankets or mix-and-match with the other prints in your color scheme.

The only problem I can find with these bibs is that the kids will wear them and mess them up.
Darn kids.
You can purchase the JJcole bibs, burps, blankets, towels and a ton more at their web site – JJColeCollections.com.

Dude … cupcakes February 14, 2010
With all the frou-frou cupcake places popping up all over the place – it’s about time we have some options for the guys in our life.
NYC newcomer Butch Bakery is selling alcohol-infused manly cupcakes that replace fluffy frosting and sprinkles with camo, houndstooth, woodgrain and plaid decorative toppers.
Owner David Arrick decided it was time to take matters into his own hands when he read a magazine article mentioned that cupcakes were a combination of everything “pink, sweet, cute, and magical”, he felt it was his place to butch things up.
They’ve gone to great lengths to play out the dude theme with very inventive flavors and cutesy – or shall i say manly – names to match. Here are some of the more interesting combos
- Rum and Coke – Rum soaked madagascar vanilla cake with cola bavarian cream filling
- Driller - Maple cake with milk chocolate ganache and bacon bits
- Campout - Graham Cracker cake with a filling of marshmallow and chocolate ganache
- Beer Run- Chocolate and beer-infused cake with a beer buttercream topped with crushed pretzels (sounds disgusting – right?)
Obviously I’m very very curious about these and will be ordering some for my man.
Currently the cupcakes are all made out of a commercial kitchen in NYC so they only deliver locally. I’ll test it out and let you know if it’s worth following them to know when they start shipping!
Now on MightyNest ~ Eco-Challenged Mom’s Wish List for Beginners February 1, 2010
As a green/non-toxic newbie, I know it can be totally overwhelming to find and buy “safe and responsible” products. During my time blogging as the Eco-challenged Mom over on MightyNest’s BabySteps blog, I have the chance to try out a ton of new products and in the process found more than a few winners. Check out my new post on MightyNest which lists my 5 fave products for beginners. Some of this stuff is so cute that it was easy to ditch the old stuff and bring in the new!
Olive & Cocoa – a fantastic combo January 31, 2010
Yesterday, I opened my mail to a rare treat…a catalog I’ve never heard of before – Olive & Cocoa.
WOW!
Olive and Cocoa has the three Ps (presentation, product and packaging) in spades!
The collection has everything from modern Martha-worthy floral arrangements to multi-colored Aussie Licorice Box and soft and snuggly baby blankets.
I was shocked to find gifts in all price ranges because everything, including the gift packaging, looks top notch. Cannot wait to give this one a try. Will report back.
The cutest of them all January 14, 2010
Testing out publishing using iPhone app. Here’s my little man Sammy who is currently asleep on my chest. Does he have to grow up?
